Expanding Phase I – Preparatory Stage
This document is Addendum No. 1 to the proposal presented for
introducing APPLI/AFPLI grassroots peace clubs to Junior and Senior
Secondary Schools.
Phases of Implementation
The implementation stages comprise:
Phase 1 – Preparatory Stage
Phase 2 – Starting the Peace Clubs
Phase 3 – Putting the peace clubs to work
Phase 4 – Infusing Peace Curriculum into the Existing Academic
Overview of Phase 1- Preparatory Stage
Develop the necessary internal capacities; create teachers and students’
awareness; secure teachers and students participations; generate
parental and public supports. During this stage club constitutions will be
reviewed to reflect or accommodate any suggestions by teachers,
students, parents, and other interested parties in the community. A
thorough examination of materials and resources will be done and
teachers will be asked to volunteer to train in their use and application.
Teachers and facilitators’ training will be discussed under a special
heading.
Expanding Phase 1 – Preparatory Stage
Following the submission of the main proposal and the meeting held on
Monday, October 31, 2005 at the Director of Co-Curricular Activities of
District 6, Mrs. B. N. Adebayo and Mr. Adepoju in attendance,
AFPLI/APPLI presents the planning of the Phase I activities as follows:
Step 1: Assigning required Manpower (See Fig. 1: Staffing Structure
for Y-PAC)
APPLI will organize its national secretariat staff (administrators,
trainers and peace club launchers)
The District Headquarters will assign one or two representatives
Each Zone will assign at least two representatives
Each School will assign at least one teacher for two classes.
Step 2: Preliminary Meetings with District and Zonal representatives
1st Mtg. Oct 31, 2005 – Presentation of Proposal and
Program Concept
2nd Mtg. - Overview/Review of Club Constitution
3rd Mtg. - District/Zonal approval and
assignment of teachers
4th Mtg. - Teachers’/Trainers Orientation and
material examination
Step 3: Teachers’ Awareness and Training, Campus Appraisals, and
Students Awareness
1st Mtg. - More awareness and orientation for
assigned teachers
2nd Mtg. - Teachers’ training and campus readiness
appraisals
3rd Mtg. - Students’ awareness
4th Mtg. - Take-off ceremonies and launching
events
Actions required: Fix dates for the meetings and perform necessary
