WAR - Africa's Other Epidemic - Who Will Bring Peace?
Over 20,000,000 have died from the horrific AIDS/HIV
Pandemic in Africa. What most people do not know is that
since Independence in 1950 over 20,000,000 Africans have
died from the effects of war and violence. The results of
AIDS are horrific. From war and violence, riots and cults,
they are attrocious.
The Receiving of a Vision
On August 13, 1996; God shared a divine
vision with Reverend Titus K. Oyeyemi,
couched in these words "Africa, the
Future Land of Peace." Similar to 1965
when he started preaching the gospel of peace
at age twelve at the onset of Nigeria's ethnic, political, and
religious violence and civil war (1965-1970) Titus felt a
calling on his life once again to become a proactive
grassroots peacebuilder but this time around with a new
dimention and approach.
Founding the Mission
Having discovered that the bedrocks of destructive conflicts,
violence and civil wars in Africa are identity conflicts such as
ethnic hatred, religious differences and collosal of unmet
needs and that the realities of these conditions are
expressed through religious language and symbolisms,
Titus took the advantage of his third Master Degree thesis
titled "Equipping the New African Peacebuilder" to design
and develop his idea of Ethnoreligious Harmony and
Proactive Grassroots Peacebuilding through a well
conceptualized structured education for peace (SEP) and a
socio-cultural adjustment program (SAP).
Creating the appropriate Infrastructures
Hitherto, people and governments (local, national, and
international) have always engaged convenient but
inappropriate infrastructures to address human
problems on the continent of Africa. With the
founding of African Projects for Peace and Love
Initiatives and its several channels for promoting
grassroots peacebuilding in Africa, Titus
believes that Everyone will answer the call to bring peace
and love to Africa!
